After two clinical wins, Bangladesh would look to seal the five-match T20I series when they face Zimbabwe at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday (May 7).
After being put in to bat, the visitors once again suffered a top-order collapse as they were reduced to 36 for four inside the first 10 overs. The big names in the Zimbabwe squad, skipper Sikandar Raza and Craig Ervine failed to leave any impact with the bat. Raza, after being dismissed for a duck in the series opener, was dismissed for three runs while Ervine too played a loose shot after getting a start and added to the troubles of Zimbabwe.
Debutant Johnathan Campbell, son of former Zimbabwe international Alistair Campbell, top-scored for his side, with a knock of 45 off just 24 deliveries. Brian Bennet remained unbeaten on 44 off 29 to help the visitors reach 138 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan got the team off to a solid start, stitching a partnership of 41 runs. Zimbabwe took two quick wickets but Towhid Hridoy (37* off 25) and Mahmudullah (26* off 16) made sure that the hosts got over the line and took 2-0 lead in the series.
The third T20I will be the last one in Chattogram as the teams will move to Dhaka for the final two games of the series. Zimbabwe need to win to stay alive in the series while Bangladesh would be keen to take an assailable lead before the action shifts to Dhaka.
